Our Marketing intern Cara Hosie has found employment with one of the UK’s oldest candle companies – Shearer Candles, after a successful internship as part of the InCube team.

Cara, 22, has spent 11 months in the position of Marketing, Events & PR Graduate Intern at Renfrewshire Council’s creative retail incubator InCube and is delighted to be joining such a prestigious company in shearers.

Having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in International fashion branding, Cara heard about the internship opportunity through Invest In Renfrewshire and knew the position was a role she could continue to learn in.

Her main role was to support the marketing, events and PR activities of InCube, and assist the InCube businesses in these areas too.

The new position sees Cara take up the role of is Marketing Executive at Shearer Candles. It will be a varied role marketing for both B2B and B2C for the company.

The role at Incube has given Cara good experience in working with a wide range of different people and organisations, which has enhanced communication and relationship building skills.

I gained skills relevant to my industry including a range of digital marketing skills which are becoming very important to have in the current marketing environment. The 11 months I have spent with InCube has given me an edge to go into the job market with.

Working with creative businesses was a good challenge for Cara, having worked in retail before with Zara. The role helped her grow not only professionally but as a person also.

My role has helped me to learn how to work with a range of different people and enhanced my communication and team working skills. It has also really helped me learn how to prioritise and manage my workload effectively which are vital skills to bring to a new employer.

Cara would like to continue working within marketing and events for creative industries.

I am open minded about my career path and would definitely like to incorporate travel into my career at somepoint in the future.
