Renfrewshire Council are using local council funding to create paid internships to support local unemployed or ‘under-employed’ graduates. To qualify to apply for an internship you must have graduated with a degree level qualification within the last two years, be 29 or under and live in the Renfrewshire Council area.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, driven and creative individual to join the Economic Development Team and work across the various teams within the Invest in Renfrewshire Programme as a marketing and social media marketing intern.

Invest in Renfrewshire is Renfrewshire Council’s programme, launched in July 2012, to boost the local economy and tackle unemployment.

The opportunities available through Invest in Renfrewshire have increased considerably since its launch. Invest in Renfrewshire works with various agencies and local businesses to help improve the local economy and boost youth employment. The website needs to be informative and eye-catching to attract both business and youth clients
Invest in Renfrewshire also needs a well marketed social media boost to reach those who have not yet heard of the programme and to keep those registered up to date, it would be the graduate’s role to launch this.

The Invest in Renfrewshire team attend a wide range of events to market the opportunities we offer. The successful graduate would have the opportunity to get involved in these at all levels. This would include reviewing offers to support and/or attend events, ensuring our marketing materials contain the correct key messages for a range of audiences, assisting with set-up and attending promotional events.

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Reviewing current content and user experience for the Invest in Renfrewshire website and offering suggestions for improvement, where necessary
• Keeping the Invest in Renfrewshire website up to date with opportunities and case studies
• Developing a social media marketing campaign for Renfrewshire’s young people and local businesses informing them of all employment/employability services available through Invest in Renfrewshire, and what support is available to local businesses
• Contributing to newspaper/magazine features and articles about youth employability and Invest in Renfrewshire
• Contributing to brand guardianship and development.
• Assisting with promotional events
• Work in co-operation with other internal departments to maximise sharing of resources and ensure coverage is maximised across all channels

Requirements

• A marketing/business communications degree
• A good knowledge of social media marketing
• Basic knowledge of WordPress
• An outgoing personality with the ability to get on well with others
• A team player
• Good organisational skills
• The ability to work well under pressure and to have a responsible attitude
• Flexible approach
• Producing copy
