After studying Business and Law at the University of Edinburgh, I went to work at the 5 star Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Island for 1 year. It was my first real job, they never had a marketing position before I got there, and I had to market a multi-million pound resort – scary!
Fortunately when I started Tweetiepie Media offering social media management and marketing services, Eriska remained and remains one of our clients. I started Tweetiepie Media in 2011 and we are just approaching our 1st birthday in 2015.
Tweetiepie Media offers a variety of digital marketing solutions for small to medium sized businesses around the UK. Services include social media management and training, web design and web re-design, reputation management, launch events, live chat and general marketing solutions.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Moving from sole trader (working just myself) to employing staff and managing a team. Having no managerial experience prior to this change, I have learnt a lot about myself and other people.
How do you define success?
Growing a business from nothing to something that people recognise has a good reputation and ensuring financial security for our employees whilst helping our clients achieving great results.
If you could give your start-up self one piece of advice what would it be?
Get out and meet as many people from as many walks as life as possible – stay in touch with these people as you never know when you’ll need them or they will need you.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Love jetting off somewhere as often as I can to explore and learn more. Fortunately with the nature of our work, we can work almost anywhere in the world.
