Elaine Burns & Alan Armitage
Elaine and Alan both hail from freelancing backgrounds (Elaine in makeup artistry and Alan in IT development) and spotted a gap in the market for an accessible luxury platform hailing from Scotland which brings together a real community of likeminded independent businesses, all looking to increase their profile, showcase their collections and find their audience. This is now moving forward to a bricks and mortar flagship store which they hope will become a must-visit fashion destination when in Glasgow.
Wear Eponymous is an exciting fashion and lifestyle destination with a fresh and fun approach to shopping. Created by a dedicated team of industry insiders who feel passionately about giving contemporary designers a chance to be discovered, we select key independent brands who we believe are doing it differently, creating something special and epitomise what it means to be eponymous.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Our biggest challenge so far is getting the right business to engage with us as there are always so many opportunities out there, it’s the personal touch and attention to detail that we think makes us stand out.
How do you define success?
Success is feeling proud of your shared achievements. Money and status will play a part as you grow but you only feel successful if you know just how hard you worked to get there.
If you could give your start-up self one piece of advice what would it be?
It’s going to take just as long to get there as you thought it would!
What is your guilty pleasure?
Our guilty pleasure is food related and trying out new restaurants is purely us demonstrating our support of independent businesses (that’s our excuse and we’re sticking to it!).
