More about Pop Up! Scotland
Pop Up! Scotland is an innovative social enterprise that produces unique exhibitions, events, and workshops in all creative areas. Despite our early stages, we have already produced several successful projects that provide an novel way for Scots to access creative and cultural events. These projects also open opportunities for artists and groups that are culturally impoverished (as defined by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, http://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/SIMD). Our innovative “pay it forward” scheme, where anyone can buy a ticket or workshop space for someone without cultural access, allows arts supporters to work with us to provide access to groups who suffer from cultural poverty.
The core team of Anne Rushing, Zoe Michell, and Frida Bengtsson have studied and worked extensively across a variety of creative industries. They draw on both personal experience and research which shows involvement in the arts increases productivity in workers, produces benefits to mental health, and improves academic performance in students. They are passionate about promoting the benefits the arts provide to the daily life of all Scots, regardless of their age, location, or disability. They work with communities by collaborating with other design communities, local governments, businesses and arts organisations and creating unique and innovative programs.
