About Paisley Pins
Referencing the world renowned & much loved pattern that is at the heart of Paisley’s heritage, Paisley Pins have combined their existing skills from extensive experience of working in the graphics industry with new techniques they have developed to produce a range of Paisley Pattern pins and brooches. Using materials such as anodised aluminium, laser cut acrylic & silver, they have combined technology with traditional pattern to give it a contemporary twist. Paisley Pins is a new venture from jewellery and silversmithing students Andrea McCarthy and Laura Provan. Former St. Mirin’s Academy pupil Laura, 37, said: “with fellow student Andrea, we designed a range of contemporary Paisley Pattern pins & brooches to coincide with the town’s bid to be the City of Culture. Andrea & I are both from Paisley but didn’t meet until we came to college and discovered our mutual love of Paisley’s heritage & history. It’s been going really well & we’re delighted to be working within InCube to help grow our business. The launch of Paisley Pins follows Laura’s win at GemSet 2016, a prestigious national competition run by the Scottish Gemmological Association. She collected her prize at an awards ceremony at Peebles Hydro Hotel, after beating off stiff competition from students from Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art, and several other colleges and universities.
